A couple of years ago I considered putting something together for the people that I have known in Salt Lake City who have frozen to death. But when I started working on it and trying to remember all the people that I have known that have frozen to death in Salt Lake City I realized that I could never be sure that I had all the names because something would come to mind, or a friend would remind me of someone else that had died that way. So I never did end up doing it because I knew that after being here in Salt Lake City and both being homeless and working to help the homeless I could never actually finalize the project because I would always feel like I might be forgetting someone. I have known a lot of homeless people in this town, a lot of them without even realizing who I am.
That is horrible too, especially when I see things like the recent meeting of homeowners in Kaysville who so strongly opposed the code blue shelter that would have saved lives. These “not in my backyard” people are just cruel and the most un-Christian people that I have ever seen. One disgusting woman even said, “these people don’t want help” even though the act of going to a shelter IS ASKING FOR HELP. The absolute ignorance of these people in the face of something that is literally killing people is shameful. I look forward to the day that they have to answer to their God for how they treated the vulnerable population when they had a chance. The loser of a woman that I mentioned earlier even threw in a lame “think of my children” reference to top it off.
If she ever had a situation where she couldn’t even count the number of people she had lost to a tragic circumstance like this she would probably fight like hell to save as many people as she could in the future. That is what I am trying to do, but I am trying to save people from fake “Christians” like her and her ignorant neighbors. If anyone is okay with homeless people roaming their neighborhoods in the cold and desperate rather than having those same people safely in a facility then she obviously doesn’t understand that if they are out in the cold they are far more likely to do something desperate and that makes her and her children even less safe.
I hope that in the future the state takes over the process and puts shelters where they can save people from freezing to death and the “not in my backyard” losers can just deal with it. They are truly pathetic.
This video shows just how un-Christian some of these people are being in the face of suffering and death.
